8-5-08 - Shipoopi, originally uploaded by TineyHo.

Aleesha loves old movies and musicals like I do! We watched Music Man. This is the scene from Shipoopi. My favorite number is Trouble. Right here in River City! With a capital "T," that rhymes with "P," and that stands for Pool.

I bought this forever ago but didn't actually open it until this past Monday. Boy am I glad I bought this movie. Classic, crazy kids movie. Sci-fi too, hehe. Reminds me of Spaceballs. There are some things you can't go back to from your childhood but this was not a disappointment. :D

I think I want to do a Princess Vespa costume, bwahahaha.

"That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age."

I think of this quote whenever I watch movies like Harry Potter where the cute ones are so young. I'm not that much older than them. o_O I look forward to watching the next Narnia movie. I wonder how old Caspian is.

You'd think this was an April Fool's joke but it's not. Gerard Butler went from 300 to P.S. I Love You to Nim's Island. o_O

I guess it's showing range but I want more ass-kicking from Gerard Butler instead of weird romantic comedies and kid's movies. Meh.

There's a movie theater in the mall and I've always tempted to watch a movie instead of going back to work after lunch.

Ming introduced me to the original Korean movie and I loved it. It's one of my all-time favorite movies. Now they're remaking it for Americans and they keep doing it with all of these Asian movies, why don't they just release the original Asian movies in the theater with subtitles! I know people hate subtitles but I hate those people too!

WhatEAVAR.

Here's the American My Sassy Girl Trailer. It doesn't look as horrible as I thought it would be. I do like Jesse Bradford. Not a huge fan of Elisha Cuthbert. It also doesn't look like she beats him up enough.

1-27-08 - Nathan Fillion!

I have my arms around Nathan Fillion. O_O HOLY CRAP!

For those of you who aren't quite in the realm of nerd-dom but want to learn, go watch Firefly and Serenity. He is Captain Malcolm Reynolds.

This here was the highlight of the FX International Convention. Nathan Fillion is perhaps one of the nicest men I have ever met. Consistently congenial and funny.

On Saturday we sat in line to meet Nathan Fillion and we got his autograph and he was so nice! I am extremely shy when it comes to meeting people sometimes and this time was no exception. I made Ashley go first and then it was my turn! He shook my hand and his handshake is so warm! I initially told him my name was Christine but I had him sign my Serenity comic to Tiney. That was it for me, I couldn't get more than a squeak out.

Then we wandered around talking to comic book artists. Definitely had to talk to Michael Slade who does a comic based on his Welsh Corgis. I bought the hard-bound first volume. It's very cute.

We waited in line so Ashley could get her photo-op with Nathan Fillion and that was exciting. She was on Cloud 9.

Ashley spoke to Nathan Fillion as much as she could without seeming psycho. OH! We also spoke to Nicholas Brendan from Buffy who was very nice and comical. We saw Elisabeth Rohm from Law and Order, Ray Park, random Power Rangers, Smoking Man from X-Files!

Sunday was more low-key. We went to the Whedonverse panel and it was so worth it to hear the banter between Nathan Fillion, Nicholas Brendan and Elisabeth Rohm. I believe Ashley has most of it taped. I recorded as much as I could before my camera died.

Then I sat in line to get my photo-op with Nathan Fillion. He remembered me! I suppose having a nickname of Tiney is memorable? I'm not sure.

Hmm, anything else happen. I donno, a lot of things happened. Ashley and I said goodbye to Nathan before we left and that was probably the most perfect ending to a great weekend. He gave us a story about the horses he rode in Firefly. ^_^

I'm sure there's a lot more that I could say but it's overwhelming. AAAHHH! It gets me worked up just thinking about how awesome the whole thing was.

1-22-08 - Tails!

I took this picture because amidst all the random toys in the claw machine there was Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog sitting on the top! It also seems like such a festive photo.

Marty's staring at the blood pressure testing machine. It didn't work. I stuck my arm in there and it said there wasn't enough data to give me my blood pressure. WTF! I'm pretty sure I'm not a zombie. :P

We were walking around the mall. I wanted some buttons. I dress pretty grown-up nowadays and I like it that way, but I want some buttons to put on my purses and crap to show that I'm still a big, fat, dorky, geek thing on the inside.

I want more video game paraphernalia but it's kind of hard to find for things that aren't the most popular games ever like Halo 3. :P Maybe at the upcoming conventions I'll be able to find more stuff.

I got a button that says "To Gnome is to Love Me" and it's got two cute gnomes on it. I got a Hello Kitty button because it's standard. And then I got a couple buttons with emoticons on it such as X_X. I also got a bumper sticker that's a heart with the initials CH in it. It's supposed to be for El ChapulĂn Colorado which is an old 70's Mexican show which is parodied on the Simpsons with the Bumblebee Man. I got it because CH are my initials.

And yes, I am sad about the death of Heath Ledger. He wasn't one of my favorite actors but he was in a lot of movies I liked and it's sad he died so young. Completely unexpected. It wouldn't be a shock if it were Britney Spears or Amy Winehouse but I guess you gotta look out for the quiet ones. I was looking forward to the next Batman movie since he's the Joker. It'll be a somber night when that movie comes out.

1-4-08 - Ashley

I am posting this with Ashley's blessing. Tonight we had a girl's night. I met one of Ashley's friends/co-workers, Bianca. She was just fab. We saw the movie, Juno, which was completely and utterly great. Music, quotes, everything. Good movie. Afterwards we stopped by a candy store where Bianca bought these huge-ass chocolate-covered strawberries. She offered one to the both Ashley and I and while Ashley took one, I said I would get a bite off of Ashley's. As Ashley proceeded to take a bite, I kept taking pictures and she never did take the first bite because we were all laughing so hard. I ended up taking the first bite and she finished the rest.

I took a good number of photos today. This project is pretty cool so far in that it changes my perspective. Now I seek out pictures around me. Maybe that's the start of a good photographer; seeking out the beauty in the world, blah blah blah, etc. Good times.

I wish I could post the others (awesome rainbow in the sky today!) and maybe at some point I will, but for now, I'm sticking to one photo a day.

It's been a while since I've seen a good romantic comedy.  'Enchanted' was so good, it gave me warm fuzzies.  I've really missed the old Disney fairy tales.  This isn't a traditional fairy tale and it obviously wasn't animated, but it had the princess, prince, and evil witch lady.  Amy Adams was completely perfect as Giselle.  Just the right amount of naivety and crazy princess-y elegance.  I can't get the songs out of my head!  Especially now that I have the soundtrack.

I want to be a princess!

OMG! This looks completely ridiculous!

I HAVE TO SEE IT!

I read the description for the Other Boleyn Girl and the many inaccuracies of the history behind the story are kind of annoying. One example is the fact that Mary Boleyn was younger when Anne was actually the younger sister. o_O And then the story makes Anne seem somewhat villainous when Mary was pretty much a slut although I suppose that doesn't necessarily make her a villain. ::grins:: Oh well though, it's a fictional story with some historical background. I'm curious so I'll probably end up seeing it. Plus, costumes!

Apparently there are a few Brits out there who don't like that the main characters are being played by American actors. Seems kind of silly to me. I mean, Cold Mountain was an American civil war movie and the two main characters were Jude Law and Nicole Kidman. I know that when Memoirs of a Geisha was in the making, the Japanese were up in arms that most of the cast was Chinese. Isn't Cate Blanchett Australian? She played Elizabeth and she's not British.

People are funny.

OMG, Pavarotti died today after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was 71.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

OMG, Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesly from the Office) is separating from her husband. Hmm, he wrote and directed horror movies that I don't care about (Dawn of the Dead and Slither, I suppose other people like these movies).

"Fun with George and Brad"
Entertainment Weekly #939 June 15, 2007

EW - Who do you like from the younger generation?
Clooney - I'll tell ya, Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams are both really good actors. Both have great range and can do all kinds of stuff.
Pitt - I think Heath Ledger is really strong as well.
EW - Hey, as long as we're on the subject of working with young folk, what's going on with your football movie, Leatherheads?
Clooney - I wrapped Friday.
Pitt - You're kidding me.
Clooney - No. I've been in North Carolina for the last four and a half months playing football with a bunch of 21-year-olds. I'll never do that again.
Pitt - [In a mock mothering tone] It's okay. You don't have to.
EW - That John Krasinski guy doesn't look that tough.
Clooney - You know, he's a good kid. I love him, but the fun part is that he talked shit. I've got this kid John Krasinski in my movie. He's on The Office - really good actor. The first day on the set he's like, "I play basketball" and I was like, "I play a little too." And he looks at me and goes, "I'll kick your ass." And I was like, All right, whatever. And he's like, "Okay, let's make it $1,000 then." So for the entire shoot we've been talking about this bet. We haven't played. The whole shoot. And Friday we played.
Pitt - Oh, boy.
Clooney - And I beat him 11-8! I was on cloud nine! I was wiping my forehead with $100 bills going, "Whooo, is it hot in here?" Certain things just bring you joy.
Pitt - And one is staving off old age.

Heath Ledger was cast to play the Joker in the next Batman movie.

What an unexpected choice.  No idea how that'll turn out.  Batman Begins was awesome so they really shouldn't fuck up the next one.

Heath Ledger does have the wide smile for it which can be accentuated with the makeup.

I wonder if Katie Holmes is going to be in the next one.

No offense to her, but her whole thing with Tom Cruise has made her credibility and perceived sanity go down the tubes.  Least in my opinion.

My current favorite actress is Rachel McAdams.  Her looks are flawless and I love her roles (which really there aren't too many of them).

Phew

Before I go to bed I figure I should update.  I suppose a few things have been happening.

  • Been with Christa yesterday and today to look at wedding gowns - so pretty!  Gives me a few ideas of what I like too.  ;)

  • Marty got the Advent Children DVD - we watched every single thing on the two-disc set tonight

  • Oh yeah, I got a haircut - if anyone is curious, I haven't taken any pictures, but it's somewhat reminiscent to Edna Mode from Incredibles but I only say slightly because hopefully I'm cuter than her despite her obvious fabulousness.  o_O

  • I only have one final on Wednesday - have completed a few smaller assignments, and so I don't have too much to worry about, woo!

  • Been hanging out with my MSM peoples - Sweet Dreams is a great ice cream shop.

  • Because of my friend, Bobby, I've gone Disney crazy and we watched A Goofy Movie the other night - turns out Marty knows the entire movie by heart, who knew?  :D

  • Went to the Materials Science Banquet with Marty and Ming this past Thursday - they had a huge buffet including salmon, OMG, I love salmon.

  • Burnout 3 is an awesome game - I hope I can get DOA Beach Volleyball soon.

I think that's all I'm going to say.  It's almost graduation day, I'm going to savor and bum around Gainesville until I have to leave forever... ::sigh::  At least I've talked to Ashley and things are starting to get lined up.  :)

Went to a secret santa party last night with MSM girls and it was awesome. I had Ashley so I got her a stuffed gator and a collage frame with pictures of all of us. She seemed really happy with her gifts so mission accomplished. Liana was my secret santa and she got me Pac Pix for the Nintendo DS. She said that if I wanted to exchange it we could go to the mall together and do so. I am very, very tempted to exchange it for Animal Crossing DS but I think it costs much more than Pac Pix. We'll see what happens. Yay games!

Afterwards I went with Ming, Renate and two of Renate's friends to the midnight showing of Narnia. It was sooooo good. I hope they're planning to make the rest of the books into movies because they should.
